Whatever industry you operate in today, the importance of search engine optimisation cannot be ignored. If you're to attract a good number of leads, you need to have an excellent online presence.

Tip #1. Integrate your social media into your marketing efforts

You can begin by building a relationship with other bloggers related to fitness or a sister industry like health care, wellness or even life coaching. 

For example, you might choose experts with fitness or nutrition blogs or even mental health practitioners or health coaches specialising in mindset and lifestyle change. 

Build up a relationship with these bloggers so that you can share posts that will then link back to your business. When following this approach, it is critical to ensure that the blogs you post on are relevant to your fitness services and have a good authority ranking. 

You can use a free tool on Ahrefs to determine the domain ranking score for the website in question. If you link back to your website from poor performing and irrelevant websites, this will only hurt your ranking in the end. 

Tip #3. Start a channel on YouTube

Aside from the suggestions that we have mentioned so far, starting a YouTube channel is another good option to consider. Did you know that 64% of customers make a purchase after watching branded social videos? Not only that, but video search results have a 41 per cent higher click-through rate.

These statistics alone show just how critical video is when building your online search presence - not to mention that YouTube is another platform you can monetise! But in terms of SEO, you will have a much better chance of conversion when more people can see you in the results and click through to your videos. 

There are many different types of videos that personal trainers can post as well, including videos on diet and nutrition and mini-workouts.

You can use keywords to optimise your videos and maximise their impact. After all, neither Google nor YouTube will be able to hear or watch your videos when it comes to indexing and ranking. Hence, you need to ensure that the video descriptions are optimised effectively with long-tail keywords to provide the best possible results.  

Tip #4. Make the most of local SEO

We cannot talk about getting more clients on Google without speaking about the power of local search engine optimisation (SEO). Reaching out to clients in a specific area is an excellent way of attracting more leads while dealing with less competition, as you will be aiming to rank for local keywords rather than more general ones. 

You should submit your profile to local directories such as Google My Business, Yahoo Small Business, and Bing Places.

Make sure that the contact information you provide is accurate and consistent across all of these platforms. It also makes sense to link to 
online reviews, as this can build your brand. 

Your NAP is a critical ranking factor when it comes to local SEO. NAP stands for Name, Address, and Phone. You need to ensure that you include your NAP with all of your citations to have a better chance of featuring in the local search engine result pages. 

Tip #5. Measure your efforts so that you can make continual improvements

One of the biggest mistakes we see many personal trainers make is viewing SEO as a one-time thing. They will read advice and suggestions and put together a great search engine optimisation plan. However, once they have addressed this one time, it will simply go to the back of their minds, and they will expect to feel the benefits forever.

Unfortunately, it does not work like this. The Internet never remains stagnant. Google constantly updates its algorithms, considering different ranking factors to provide the best possible experience to its users. 

Therefore, the only way you'll be able to continue to get more and more personal training leads via SEO is if you continue to monitor your efforts and make tweaks as and when required. 

Make sure you stay up to date with the latest Google updates so you're aware of anything that may impact your ranking and require changes on your behalf. Measuring your efforts also enables you to understand what parts of your marketing strategy are working and which areas need attention.
