Welcome,
My name is Mark Anthony, Personal Trainer and Nutritional Coach at MAW Fitness and Wellbeing, my “Mission” is to educate, empower and assist clients, that are over 40 Years of age, enabling them to reach their desired Personal Wellbeing and Fitness Goals.
I am accredited and certified through completing training, assessment and qualifications with the following Professional Associations:

My personal fitness journey began in 1986, when I started training with weights, at the age of 14, I was a very slim and slightly built 16-Year-Old, weighing around 10 stone. In secret, I started using my fathers “Bull Worker” and soon purchased a basic gym bench and a set of cast iron weights, I devoted myself to the “Weider Principles” and was an avid fan of “Flex Magazine”.
After a relatively short period of training, my school friends started to notice my improved physique and asked if they could also train with me, by the age of 15, I had my first few clients, which then over the years continued, where even whilst studying at University I continued to attract attention from other students who wanted to “Train” with me.
Over the proceeding years, my quest for knowledge and search for the elusive “Magic Workout” had helped me to become an 18 stone “Body Builder”, however, through misinformed information, I was actually obese.
As I had aged, I began to experience the ill-effects of bodily “Aches” and “Pains,” which when combined with “Stress,” “Poor Diet,” “Poor Sleep” and “Shift Working” had led to the development of the following physical ailments:
• Lower back pain / Herniated Spinal Discs
• Diagnosed as being Obese and Pre-diabetic
• Diagnosed with Osteoarthritis
Something had to change, my life style choices had impacted upon my “Personal Wellness,” so I decided to embark upon a period of studying to gain knowledge through professionally, recognised Fitness and Nutrition Qualifications, which I could then integrate within my own life and share with my family and friends.
This led to my first Gym Instructors qualification, with the BSY Group, which was then further enhanced through undertaking a Personal Trainers Diploma with Future Fit along with an advanced Sport and Exercise Nutritional Diploma with Precision Nutrition. I was then able to become a full time Personal Trainer, being able to provide my clients with effective routines and nutritional advice was essential, people were putting their trust and faith in me.
My ongoing quest for knowledge has not been extinguished, this led me to being mentored by a former Team UK Olympic Head Coach as well as studying with the renowned World Amateur Body Building Association (WABBA), where I qualified as a Senior Gym Instructor and Body Building Coach. Furthermore, I gained certification as a “Master Personal Trainer” and “Accelerated Fat Loss Coach,” with the European Institute for Fitness.
I am currently studying to become a Certified Pilates and Yoga Instructor, along with a Level 5 Nutritional Qualification and a chef, with the acclaimed, London based Leith's School of Food and Wine. Additionally, I have also commenced a Level 4 Award in Coaching and Exercise for Clients with Mental Illness along with a Level 4 Strength and Conditioning Qualification.
